Windows 10: Announcing Windows 10 Insider Slow Build 17025 for PC

Hi there. By "Fix me" do you mean the FixMe Stick?

 

Ever since 17017 my Acronis True Image is broken. Can't make back ups or restore. Anyone else experiencing this? TIA

 

updating to 17025 on the physical machine went extremely rapidly. I didn't time it but believe this is the fastest yet. Making an image of the system using AOEMI Backupper. I'll do a disk clean tomorrow. I guess next I try updating the VMs I won't try to do 3 at the same time. Nite all.

 

I could not update/upgrade my computer from 16299.19 to 17017 nor 17025.
I think that the RS4 doesn't like my machine... Today, have tried many times.*Mad

 

The update went quick and smooth on the Asus tower. The initializing and download processes seems to be quicker. Updating the Acer atm. It seems to be going along quicker also as the old timer it is.

Guess what's back? Since you last helped me delete, I purposely left these collect over a few builds to see what happens. I'm limited with a 120GB SSD space with dual booting. During the updates I get asked by Storage sense if I want to free up space. I think it clears the folders' contents, but not the folders themselves. They are all empty. I cannot delete them in FE after this operation, nor does cmd.exe /c Cleanmgr /sageset:65535 & Cleanmgr /sagerun:65535 clean them.





If I tunnel down to the LocalState folder I get this. The search bar never quits too.





I've reported it in Feedback Hub. I'm just going to keep collecting them since they take very little space and do no harm. My .old stuff collection. *Biggrin

Won't use it for now, but if you still have that Command script that at least allowed me to delete in FE I'd appreciate it. I thought I saved it but I guess I didn't. I have your dir /s /x c:\windows.o* > %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\winold.txt yet, though.

The handling of disk space in these 17xxx is getting worse. Not only was there 27.5 GB of old system files which had to be cleaned using diskmg but Windows overrode my explict instructions - no pagefile. A 1/2 GB pagefile on C: (which is an SSD) was created as with useless (to me dirctories label data and local. And this was AFTER I moved the 17025 ISO to another drive and deleted the uuptoiso directory. Perhaps. Would the upgrade have failed without these space hogging files and folders - I don't know. Tonly got a file he couldn't even google. Well I guess I can rearm O&O shutup now that I have an ISO and a backup image.

 

Update to 17025 when fine, but after disk cleanup it left Windows.old with a couple of sub folders. Tried to delete it manually and it told me that Windows.old didn't exist. Had to open command prompt as admin and use ... rmdir Windows.old /s /q to get rid of it

 

Wow. This Acer got to 60% of install and went from inch worm to snails' pace. The 70's seem to be going quicker. The initialization and download seemed to have gone quicker, which hints that the UUP method is getting better.

 

It seems that WD identified it as a virus when it was in Recycle Bin. All good now.

I find it weird simply because I didn't have this writing before.

 

When I have time I will complete a script that removes all that remaining crap, since so many have issues with those folders, including me from time to time.

That command will only work sometimes. It is much more complicated than that. *Smile

I'll try to write a PS module that is a hybrid of PS and CMD. It should do the job. Do you want colors too, or just plain boring blue-white? *Wink

 

LOL! Can you automate to change the colors for each Holiday?
