Windows 10: Annoying Green squares with white checkmarks on most of my icons and folders

Since installing Norton using Windows 10, I now have annoying green squares with white checkmarks on my folders and icons. How can these be removed?

Annoying "green squares with white checks" cover most of my desktop icons.

While working with my PC, the "Lennox" name, that always appears on the desktop screen, suddenly disappeared and there was movement among the icons. I immediately shut the computer off, fearing I was being hacked. When I turned it back on a few minutes
later, everything appeared normal except for the problem described above. I tried going to "display", then "unchecking"

the appropriate box but to no avail. How can I remove the green squares and checkmarks? *** Email address is removed for privacy ***.

 

Green checkmark on some destop icons

These white checkmarks on a green circular background continue to appear on the bottom middle of the some of my desktop icons. They seem to show up on url links and folders.

I've tried disabling Malwarebytes which doesn't help.

I have not found any reason for these icons.

Does anyone have any thoughts on why these icons are appearing, disappearing and appearing again. I'm concerned that I may unknowingly be syncing to sites I did not authorize.

 

Green Checkmarks/ Ticks on desktop icons

Since I have got my laptop, I have noticed green checkmarks on the desktop icons. These are irritating. I know this is regarding OneDrive but how to remove them?
