Windows 10: Annoying popup menu

Recently I have been getting an Windows 10 popup menu (see attached file) that comes up randomly and I have no idea how to turn it off. What is really annoying is when I am typing in Word or an email and it pops up, if I hit the corresponding letter that service opens up. *Mad Any ideas on how to turn this off?

Annoying default mail popup

I am guessing that the problem stems from the fact that my Office 365 license does NOT include Outlook and I mistakenly launched it when I first had the laptop.

I typically use Thunderbird which I have used for many years but I tried setting Mail as the default.

The annoying message pops out soon after startup or logging in and then at intervals after that.

Task manager shows the task as COM surrogate (32 bit) - dllhost.exe

 

I don't have an answer for you, but just to let you know that the screenshot you posted is what you will get when you Right click at the Start button on the extreme left side of the taskbar.
Do you have any hotkey that will initiate right click at Start button ?

It's the Windows Key + X that brings that up

 

But it comes up when I am watching a video or reading and not touching the keyboard at all.

 

Suggestions only :
1. You said " Recently......".
If so, do a system restore. Pick a date when you did not have this auto popup as your restore point.

2. Run a system file check for corrupt files.
Enter sfc /scannow in Command Prompt (Admin)

 

Well, I did both and I'm still having the same problem but I have figured out it is more of a hardware problem. In the attached image on the top right there are three buttons above the keyboard and I have found if I adjust the screen or if it moves just a little bit, the button the the left (with the two gears) lights up and the menu pops up. Is there a way to disable these buttons as I never use them?

So I think when I'm reading or watching video, my desk shakes enough to move the screen enough to turn on the button light and get the popup menu
