    Another Windows 10 HomeGroup problem

    Hi

Several months ago I created a Home Group and all was working fine. I hadn't made use of it in a while and the password has since gone from my memory.

The problem I'm having is I can see under the Network tab that both PC's are connected but I am unable to grant/change access to any folders because I do not know the password I set which it prompts for when trying to add folder access to another pc.

When I go to Home Group page in Windows the only option I have is to join the Home Group that I already created? And the option to change the password is not selectable (This is the pc I set the Home Group up with).

Any ideas on where to start?

    :)

  2. W10 Upgrade has changed file types

I have just had the latest big W10 upgrade and discovered it has changed my Word documents to Office Open XML files.

Can anyone tell me why this was done and whether there is a quick fix. Obviously I can use 'Open with' to get them back into Word. However then this involves duplicate documents.

  3. Windows 10: Remove old homegroup and create a new one

Have 2 computers on the Windows 10 homegroup. When I took the laptop off the network for business and brought it back into the network the homegroup wouldn't work. Tried signing back into the homegroup but it wouldn't recognize the password. I then "left"
the homegroup with the laptop and tried to reestablish the link to the homegroup, but still encountered the same problem. I then "left" the homegroup with the laptop and with the computer that was the host of the homegroup with the intension of reestablishing
a homegroup. What this did was to create an additional problem in that my password no longer works and my host computer is saying that it created a homegroup on the network and won't allow me to create a new one. I tried following a previous recommendation
to eliminate the idstore.sst file as part of the Peer Name Resolution Protocol service but it didn't help. Is there another solution to rid my host computer of the old homegroup and start
    a new one?

Control Panel/All Control Panel Items/HomeGroup Look for View or print the homegroup password.

Third party Internet Security Software is what usually causes this problem. Try removing it and leaving the Home Group.
