  1. Antimalware service executable CPU usage

Just updated and Antimalware service executable is now taking up over 30% of my CPU. I hadn't even seen this program on my task manager prior to this I keep task manager open every day and now it's at the top of my CPU usage and it won't go away. I tried putting it into exclusions, I even turned off windows defender, it is still there no matter what I do. It's making games and other programs unusable because it's eating up so much CPU.

    :)

  2. Antimalware Service Executable High CPU

I am experiencing high CPU usage on the Antimalware Service Executable on my Surface Pro i7 1 tb (2017). This has been going on for a couple of months. It makes my computer almost unusable. The CPU sits at 100% any time I try to use it. The CPU has
over 50% usage when nothing is being run in the foreground all the time (24 hours a day). The April update was just installed and the Antimalware Service Executable is still running at over 40% of the CPU utilization.

Antimalware Service Executable and Excessive CPU Usage

Thank you for a response. My previous post to the forum ended as a discussion of various AV software options and didn't address the issue of excessive CPU usage by Antimalware Service Executable. That is my current concern and the reason I started with a
fresh question to the forum. At this point I consider them separate questions with separate threads.
