Windows 10: Any idea what the highlighted files are? And how to get rid of them?

Win 10 How to get rid of Windows.old folder and content.

Type Diskcleanup in Cortana, bottom left.
Click on Cleanup System Files, There you will see a second option in yellow highlight, More options.
Do note the bottom Attachment comes up first.

 

I cannot highlight files in Windows 10

1) Does this issue occur with any specific files in the File explorer?

2) Does this issue occur n any specific drive?

3) Does this issue occur on Files on Desktop?

As a work around, I suggest you to highlight the files of the desktop(if any) and check.

I suggest you to check the issue in Safe Mode and see if it’s working slowly.

To enter Safe Mode in Windows 10:

• 
  Restart your PC.
  
• 
  Press Shift + restart
  before the Windows logo appears.
  
• 
  Click See Advanced Repair Options.
  
• 
  Click Troubleshoot.
  
• 
  Click Advanced Options.
  
• 
  Click Windows Startup Settings.
  
• 
  Click Restart.
  
• 
  You then see a list where you can choose
  Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking (depending on whether you think you’ll need the Internet).
  

I also suggest you to run system file checker scan and check the issue.

Sfc /scannow will inspect all of the important Windows files on your computer, including Windows DLL files. If System File Checker finds an issue with any of these protected files, it will replace it.

Follow the steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and select
  Command prompt (Admin).
  
• 
  At the Command Prompt, type:
  sfc/scannow

In Windows 10, is there a way to get rid of the blue semi-highlighting on files the mouse pointer is hovering over?

In Windows 10 File Explorer, as the mouse pointer moves over files, it "semi-highlights" them as it moves over them, or remains semi-highlighting a given file it is hovering over when it comes to rest. I say "semi-highlighting" because it's exactly like
the blue ribbon that characterizes a selected file except that it is a more faded blue. Is there anyway to get rid of this feature and have it so the mouse pointer does not generate this semi-highlighting when it hovers over a file?

Let me emphasize, this is not to be confused with the highlighting of a selected file, which I would not want to get rid of. This is a more faded highlighting that moves with the mouse pointer and whose purpose seems to be to show what file the mouse pointer
is currently hovering over.
