Windows 10: Any Official Sources of Windows 10 Upgrade as ISO?

Gabe already said if upgraded from windows 7 sp1 or 8.1 you can leave the insider program and the computer will remain activated. Rocky already proved that 10240 is the rtm and proved what I just said. He upgrade from windows 7 sp1 or 8.1 and left the insider program. He did slmgr /dlv it showed no expiration date and it remain activated.

You could be correct some computers might have activation issue. I had one myself. I wish I had a computer that didn't have an oem maker. Then I could test your theory. I did actually have a problem with a windows 7 retail. For some reason when I upgraded a legit windows 7 retail version, windows 10 wouldn't activate but if I used my oem slp version windows 10 activated without any issues.

Here is my results

Partition Primary 1 Windows 7 Retail (Change key to retail version, so I wouldn't have to re-install)
Partition Primary 2 Windows 7 OEM upgraded to Windows 10 preview then upgraded to 10240
Partition Logical 5 Xubuntu
Partition Logical 6 Linux swap


I just created an iso image using Kari tips. So, I could find if windows 10 10240 activates on clean install without upgrading and not using a Microsoft Account. Since, technically I already upgrade from windows 7.

 

We'll see what happens - I have a Vista Home marker and a preview 10 activation on my laptop

 

Vista and xp is not eligible for the upgrade.

 

So do I - thought this was odd since the machine originally came with Win7. Did a double take thinking I was on my Vista box - but nope ... the box was the Win7 laptop, upgraded to Win8 ... 8.1 with a retail license.

We shall see what happens.... there has to be an ISO for devices MS targets non-WU updrates. Where, when and how are still questions.

MS has said once a machine is updrated, you can acquire an ISO - and do clean installs. I don't think the key is embedded in the ISO, it is derived from a qualifying previous OS.

 

I believe the new Win10 will be derived from both the original Win7 or Win8.1 key AND some part of the hardware of the computer it is installed on (usually the MAC address of the motherboard). That is how the old OEM licenses work and God help you if you did a major upgrade.

 

I have got OEM RTM from mydigitallife. It appears to be official. Activated by itself. *Cool
