Windows 10: Any way I can get windows photos app's video trimming function to work on my external hard...

I have an external hard drive connected to my laptop that I store footage on, that would be incredibly convenient for me to trim individual ones with windows photo trimmer before I compile them, without needing to leave space on my main laptop SSD drive to transfer and trim.If I try using the trim function on a video that is on my D: external hard drive, it slaps me with a 0x80070057Please try again. Photos app - trim a video - error

Hello,
I am trying to use the built-in Windows 10 Photos app to trim a video.
I have the video playing in the Photos app and click "Trim Video" at the top.
I move the sliders to select the start and end points.
I click "Save a copy" at top-right.
The app says "It looks as though you don't have permissions to save changes to this file. Try saving a copy instead."
Having just clicked "Save a copy", I am confused as to why this error message is appearing.
I've tried copying the .mp4 to my VIDEOS folder on C: drive with the same result.
Some research has suggested to run the Photos app as Administrator, but I can't figure out how to do that.
Any suggestions on how to trim a video would be appreciated!

Cannot save trimmed videos using the Photos App

I have a couple videos that I want to trim down in the Photos App; however, every time I attempt to trim the video, Photos would crash. After crashing, a trimmed file of the video would show up, but I cannot view the new clip.

 

Microsoft Photos Fails to Save Trimmed Video

Hello,

I am attempting to use Microsoft Photos to trim some videos. I set the sliders to the portion of video I want, and I click "Save As." The video file name shows up in the folder I selected to save it in, and it starts to show an increasing file size, while
the Photos app shows a progress bar over the video. But about 20% of the way thru, it just stops. The partially-completed file disappears from the folder, and Photos goes back to the editing screen with the sliders and no progress bar. It does not give any
error message or indication that anything went wrong.

I have tried restarting my computer.

I have tried Troubleshoot, Repair, and Reset.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software.

I have checked for updates for both the Photos app and Windows.

I have checked for old registry keys.

I have changed permissions on my WindowsApp folder.

It has worked a few times, but now it will not complete saving the trimmed file.

These videos are about 45-50 minutes long, and approximately 2 Gb.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
