Windows 10: any way of going back to win 7 if 10 doesn't work for me

Joined forum to find out about how easy it would be to go back to win 7 if...when I tried win 10 and it didn't work out as expected. Those of you who have used it seem to be keen on it. Will keep an open mind about it - but would like to know if there's any way of going back to win 7 if it doesn't work for me!?!?

When I attempt to roll win 10 back to win 7 ( settings, recovery, go back to windows 7) it ask me why do I want to roll back, no thanks to updates, etc.. my pc reboots then win 10 login screen. Is there a manual way to get the roll back to work i.e. copying
contents of windows.old to the c drive? (wishful thinking)

Any way to get back the Win 7 games? Win 10 games, solitare are pure junk.

The games on Win 10 are terrible. Bad display, no option to keep track of history with spider. Can't change deck. Just awful. Any way to get back Win 7 games. Those were great. Win 10 with 'sign in' BS and other junk are terrible.

 

You take an image of your C: drive first. That is the best way of reverting to the original. Imaging should be part of a regular backup regime, anyway.

You should also create OEM recovery discs if you haven't already. The PC mfr web site or manual has the information on how to do that - each mfr has a different process. There is usually an item for the process in your start menu.
And backup your personal data.
- imaging will create that backup if you include the locations. It's often easier to do a copy of the files and then you have ready access to them. You can do both *Wink

 

Aomei, EaseUS and Macrium all allow individual files to be extracted form the image so that is handy as well.

 

I agree with one caveat. A back should not be 'local' to the machine. Offline or even offsite.

The copy of your personal data can be a 'working' copy - but a backup ..... well, you get it *Wink

 

win10 has its own support to restore win 7 backup, so you can use normal win 7 backup option to do it - ofc, its long goner if you delete any partitions *Smile
