Any way to change active network order in Network & Sharing center?

Windows inconsistencies drive me bonkers. I have two wireless radios (like most) a 2.4 and a 5. I have them on separate SSID's for several reasons, most important is due to band steering being awful - but thats another discussion entirely.

At the moment when I connect to 5ghz I get this

When i connect to 2.4ghz I get this

Any way to change active network order in Network & Sharing center? [IMG]

How on earth can I make both wifi radios on bottom instead of 2.4 for some reason feeling the need to be on top of my ethernet connection?

It appears this is purely aesthetic because if i check the interface metric with powershell (Get-NetIPInterface) the ethernet is ranked as priority (lower #) irrespective of which radio im connected to. Yet 2.4ghz wants to be on top.

same behavior on my other desktop, yet on my laptop - theyre reversed.

    :)

  3. Changing Network Location on Windows 10

    Hi Bruce,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

In order to connect or join Homegroup your connection should be set in public network. Make sure the network discovery is turned ON.

Go to Control Panel> All control panel items> Network and sharing center> Advanced Sharing settings to turn ON Network Discovery.

I suggest you to once run the in-built Network troubleshooter by following the steps below.

    • Type “troubleshooting” in the search box and press Enter.

    • Click on “View all” on the top left corner.

    • Click on “Network Adapter” and follow the prompts for troubleshooting.
    Hope the information is helpful.
