    Any way to get Charms Bar on non-touch screen


    On my desktop PC, if I'm using the Start SCREEN UI the option is un-checkable, if I'm on the Start MENU UI it's greyed out.

    OK, now I see what's going on. If it's set it to use the Start Menu (the default on a fresh install), the option to Boot to Desktop is checked and greyed out. When I switched to the Start Screen it became a selectable option. It doesn't actually change until you log out and log back in again.

    If you like, you could use the context menu below to toggle back and forth between using the Start menu or Start screen without having to sign out/in. *Smile

    Thanks, but I'm OK. I only changed it to prove a hunch as to what was going on. It makes sense when you think about it. If your going to use the Start Menu your also going to have to boot to the Desktop. The Start Screen is turned off, you can't use both. Normally I boot to desktop and use the Start Screen. Now if they had locked me into using the Start Menu that would have been a different story, I would have went back to 8.1 in a flash.
