Windows 10: Any way to stop a hard drive spinning so i can remove it?

My pc has a HDD dock on top of it and since my mobo supports hot swap i can change hdds pretty easily. I'm pretty sure a few updates ago i was able to eject/remove the hdd so it would stop spinning for me to remove it. Any way to do this so i don't remove the live disc? Wing 20h2

I already know i can turn it off, any alternative?

Constant hard drive spinning

I am on a relatives computer, and she is complaining of slow performance, and basically, what it looks like, is the hard drive, is constantly spinning, causing programs to act slow, and causing everything to run slow.
I have indexing turned off (Windows Vista ) and I just want a list of things I can start going through to check what might be causing the constant spinning.
She has norton, too. which might be part of the problem..

Overclock your hard drive!!!

Heres a much easier hack that I realized quite a few years ago that really does work!

REQUIREMENTS:

• Hard drive with molex power connection.
• PSU with more than 1 strand that has molex plugs on it.
• Wire strippers, soldering iron if you're fancy, electrical tape if you're not.

STEPS:

• Take the strand of connectors from your PSU, and decide which one will be the donator for this overclocking adventure.
• Cut the yellow and orange cables, then twist them together.
• Find the power connector you've chosen as the overclocking connector, and release the orange cable from the connector. Now use your preferred method to bind them together, then place it back together.
• Plug in a drive and feel the speed!

Congratulations! You've just overclocked your hard drive!
