Windows 10: Any word document I try to open from the Office.com version is just stuck on the Word logo...

I am able to open PowerPoint documents saved to my Office 365 account from the .com version but if I try to open any word document no matter how small the size or create any new document my screen gets stuck on the Word logo loading symbol for ages and it never opens. I am able to open documents in the app version on my Google Pixel book but this is a very clunky application as it is no longer being updated so I prefer to use the online version of Word. I would be very grateful for any help on how to fix this issue.

Can you please provide a bit more detail on your question . . .

Do you get an error when trying to open Word documents, and if so, is that for all documents and what is printed on that error?

Can you open Word form its application icon, and if so, if you go to File - Open, can you open a Word document form there, rather than double clicking a Word document?

As an initial step, follow these steps to perform a full repair of your Office installation . . .

Open Control Panel - Programs and Features

Click Microsoft Office in the list of installed applications

At the top, click 'Change'

On the resulting dialog, click 'Repair' - choose the Online Repair, it is a comprehensive fix

That should fix any issues with your Office Installation . . .

NOTE: Please be advised, if you are running Office 2013 or earlier, before attempting a repair, have your Microsoft Office Product Key at hand, Office may need to be re-activated in some cases

 

Open office VS Word 2007

I am making my resume and started with the one i already made in the past with Word 2007 but now using Open office 3.4.1.

Is there a reason why Open Office is screwing everything and even changing all the formats ?

I mean...it puts the table all around different size than before, change the caracters format without me asking to change it, change the alignment.

It's suppose to be COMPATIBLE...I don't see how compatible it can be. It feels like opening a Word 2007 document in Wordpad.. if you see what I mean.

Also the P carater in the top of Word that you press to see where are the lines there is none in open office...always the lines over the lines.

Any of you can help me out doing something with it or anyonewas able to do something good with Open office? *Bang Head :banghead:

I just restarted my laptop and now word files appear to be opening normally. I was concerned Imight have been infected with Malware, but apparently I just needed to Reboot.
