    Note that we are talking here only about systems that have not been previously upgraded to Win 10 and then rolled back to Win 7 or 8.

    When will the free version of windows 10 expire?

    After July 28, 2016 anyone wanting a new copy of Windows 10 will have to buy it. They will no longer be able to upgrade from Windows 7or 8 for free.

    Microsoft does not charge for updates.

    Microsoft says that Windows 10 is a service and the user will be entitled to free upgrades for the life of the computer (motherboard).
