    Anyone else not able to shutdown the last few days?


    For some reason I can not shutdown my PC except for hard shutdowns the last few days. Neither the GUI, nor cmd let‘s me shutdown. While cmd does actually try to shutdown, it is usually stuck at the shutdown screen.

    Not able to shutdown or restart

    Hi

    Every time when i trying to shutdown or restart PC it says like some program is preventing you from shutdown or restart,when i choose shutdown anyway it keeps loading as shutingdown for hours!!
    and for some application chrome and visual studio even after closing them,its still running in the task manager I have tried ending them via command prompt taskkill /F /IM "chrome.exe" /T but still no luck ( so what happens is they are using the CPU utilization of 100% )

    I have tried following options

    • running command sfc /scannow but stucks at 2 %
    • tried DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth stuck at 4.9 %
    • Disabled the fast startup



    Any help would be appreciated?

    Some really advanced and knowledgeable folks on here need more than PC/Desktop and OS Windows 10 as a starting point to diagnose possible causes of your problem.

    I also realize you just joined, so please forgive me for hounding you about updating those specs. After I filled mine in, I started getting really fast replies because the members could see what type of system I had and they were like you need to do this or you need to do that...........well you get what I'm saying!

    We suggest that you follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve the issues with the shutdown function of your laptop:

    • Type Troubleshooting in the search bar beside the Windows icon.
    • Select Troubleshooting from the results.
    • Under System and Security, select Fix Problems with Windows Update.
    • Choose Troubleshoot as an Administrator.
