Windows 10: Anyone know how to fix file explorer not being able to open files

Whenever I click a file I wanna open my cursor just starts doing the blue loading thing for ages. I really need to open some files

opening .dds files with gimp

Simply, HOW? I got the DDS plugin but the POS wont open DDS files still. Can someone give me a step-by-step rundown of how to install the DDS plugin for gimp so I know if I'm missing something?

 

File Explorer will not remain opened - How to fix?

I appreciate the list. I've already completed 1, 2 and 3 first before my first call to Microsoft. 4 - Change File Explorer Options not able to get to options as you stated (window would not remain open) however I was able to get
to options through settings and no go on that one too

#5. Clear the Cache & Create New Path -- not able to connect except to quickly see and then it goes away. I again was able to connect to options another was but again - new shortcut same
results.

Microsoft also completed all of these steps and then reinstalled windows 10. It's frustrating since these were all the first attempts I made to
fix. I've also system file checker tool and sfc/scannow. I had ONE command file corrupt, fixed. Still no remaining file explorer window open.

 

Exe file slow to open

I know it's 1GB. I tested this on Win Explorer and Total Com.
For example 250MB file is opened in ~5 seconds.

@edit: I turned off the pagefile but it don't work.
