Windows 10: Anyone know how to remove faulty print drivers?

I am having problems with update and printer drivers.I had an update claiming it was a Microsoft universal print driver. I am unable to install any print drivers for my network HP LaserJetColor printer.I ran the latest Malicious Software Removal tool and it detected 2 infected file, but doesn't do anything.You may need to audit security permissions. Update keeps backing out after showing 100% complete.

Method 2: Uninstall unnecessary printers

Having two or more printers installed can cause issues with the Print Spooler and printing. Follow the steps below to uninstall any unnecessary printers:

• Press Windows Key + X and select Control Panel from the list.
• When Control Panel opens, locate Devices and Printers.
• In Devices and Printers section select the printer you want to remove and click Print server properties.
• Go to Drivers tab. You should see the list of all installed printers.
• Select the printer you want to remove and click the Remove button.
• Select Remove driver and driver package and click OK to completely remove the printer.
• After removing unnecessary printers, restart your PC.

Microsoft Print to PDF driver is not listed under Manufactuer or in Windows features.

If you're unable to locate Microsoft Print to PDF driver in device manager, we suggest you follow the steps below:

• Type Troubleshooting in the search bar.
• Click Troubleshooting.
• On the pop-up window, click Hardware and Sound.
• Under Printing, click Printer troubleshooter.
• Click Next, and follow the on-screen prompts.

The troubleshooter will scan for any missing drivers and will help you install it.

No color management in print dialogue box

Why is the critical step of removing all old printer drivers (Step 5) in the Printui dialogue the same as Step 6 right clicking the printer in Devices and Printers to delete it and restart PC?

After you install the printer software in Print 8 you did a lot of other things with a Desktop app that are not in the list and unneeded. Why were these necessary instead of just selecting a .pdf document to print and trying it?

The reason I ask is that I've suggested these steps countless times and they have always worked if only they are followed, not adding a bunch of steps at the end.
