Windows 10: Anyone know what "Software reporter tool" is?

You're so welcome.. I don't know when I'll get around to this but I will.. I have to take my girlfriend to the Dr and that could take up some time.

The original poster was looking for the Software reporter tool. How did this morph into Google Software Removal Tool. As far as I can figure out reporting and removing are not the same thing.

Just out of curiosity do you know how his chrome downloaded that file Jeff?? I also run chrome and have never seen it before.
I just did a check on my computer, and no such file exists. I didn't think Chrome would download a addon or file without asking the user 1st?? Just wondering....file doesn't sound bad at all.

 

Honestly the only information I found was about a Google issue. I can't test it properly since I couldn't recreate the error on my system. It's hard to really say how it got there but there is no solid information on this issue.

 

Well Jeff After looking again, I did find this folder which was empty, but I guess Chrome made it..... never knew it was their. lol *Smile

I'm deleting a few folders now....see what happens.

 

SW Reporter doesn't have to be malware to screw up your system. If it blocks Norton, and you rely on Norton for security, then it will leave you exposed to online viruses. I just received a Norton message like the others listed here, and it seems a little strange that a program with only 5 users and created a week ago would pass muster with Norton. Other packages were rejected with better diagnostics than this (although the Reporter was signed by Google). The fact that Norton passes software that interferes with it is also strange. But then, this is Norton; and I've been sorely disappointed with them this past year. When my current subscription expires, I'm getting something else.

 

Old thread but this exe was running on my PC so I googled it.

It uses up so much of my memory.
