Windows 10: Anyone notice Windows 10 OS crashes and goes to recovery mode due to MEMORY exhaustion lately

The windows OS crashes and goes to recovery mode whenever I keep my laptop running overnight. I did observe the MEMORY is almost depleted>95% where the system gets slower and I suspect the SO crash once MOMEORY is fully depleted. Its annoying to shutdown my laptop everyday to avoid system crash and cant risk data loss.

Issues : Low memory and resource exhaustion - Dwm.exe in windows 10

Information : Just to let you know, when I leave my computer ideal for a while and when I return to it, I get to see a Low memory message. I am on Windows 10 computer (Factory installed - Dell). I wanted to know which application is causing the issue. Opened
the Event viewer and surprisingly I found DWM.exe causing resource-Exhaustion.

Opened services.msc and could not locate desktop windows manager services. Checked in the regedit. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\EventLog\Application\Desktop
Window Manager. There is a service listed.

Things that I am requesting

• How to locate dwm.exe (desktop windows manager services) in services.msc
• How to allocate less memory to this service/ How to stop this service from eating up the entire memory
• In the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\EventLog\Application\Desktop Window Manager there are 3 things listed
  • Name : Default Type : REG_SZ Data: (Value not set)
  • Event message file Type: REG_EXPAND_SZ Data: %SystemRoot%\system32\dwm.exe
  • TypesSupported REG_DWORD Data: 7
  What can be done to stop this service from the Regedit.
  

Note: Dell Replaced the entire machine and this is a second computer(Same issue). So, could not be a problem with the physical memory modules. Increased Virtual memory and that did not work either.

 

How to start machine in recovery mode when OS is corrupted/not working?

Hi,

1. My windows 10 OS is installed on C drive.
   
2. I copied winre.wim file in folder E:\Recovery\WindowsRE and register the location of the recovery tools as E:\Recovery\WindowsRE.
   
3. If OS is corrupted/not working on C drive then can I start machine in recovery mode? If yes then how can I start in recovery mode?
   

Please Help me in above query.

BSOD error 0xc000021a crash


This is just 1 step of finding the cause, there are a few usual causes for this crash.

• Mismatched system files,
• User-mode driver
• system service
• 3rd party app's

To proceed, you would need recovery media or the troubleshooting options.
I would recommend the recovery media in case the recovery partition(s) get damaged.
