Windows 10: app icons on start shows down arrow

I tried wsreset, signing out and logging back in, checked my region. I recently reset my laptop and did a system restore, still no luck. I checked the Microsoft store, it says that all my apps are updated, but still the smart menu icons are shown as down arrow.


also, when I try to right click an app at the search button to pin to start, it wouldn't show on start, but when I drag the icon it appears.

1. Is Cortana able to search the apps installed?

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if that helps.

• Type Start Settings in Search and hit
  Enter.
• Turn on Show recently added apps in jump list of Start of Taskbar.

  How exactly did you remove compression?
  

I suggest you to update the display drivers on your computer and check if it helps. Refer the below steps to update the driver.

• 
  Press “Windows + X” and select Device manger.
  
• 
  Select Display Adapter and expand the driver icon.
  
• 
  Right click on the driver icon and click on
  Update.
  
• 
  Follow the onscreen instructions to update the driver.
  
• 
  Restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Cross arrow shortcuts are shown on the icons after the November upgrade.

• Is it only for the shortcut apps or any other apps?
• Are you facing any issues with the arrows above on the shortcuts?
