You have 2 options:

1. Download and install Quicktime Player to play .mov: QuickTime 7.7.9 for Windows OR
2. Download and install Handbrake: HandBrake: Open Source Video Transcoder and convert .mov file to another format such as .avi or .mp4 then you can play with VLC or with Movies & TV App that came installed with Windows.

 

MOV to MP4 converter?

I've recently created a 40 minute video one my iPhone 7, I intend to bring onto my computer and edit it down to 2-4 minutes.

The video is size is around 4 GB on my phone.

Using windows photos to import the video via USB cable never worked, many times it I would select import but then it immediately or after it's nearly finished it comes with an error, stating to try again later. My phone is working fine, it was unlocked and
I trust my computer. I've also noticed that my phone had 20 GB free before trying to import into PC, but then after failed attempts and errors, I had no more space, forcing my phone to offload some apps. I have no idea why this is.

Because windows photos app never worked to import the video, I had to result to third party apps, and finally with a free trial of some app, I managed to import the 40 minute video into my PC. However the file is a MOV. Windows Media player, Windows Movies
& TV player, Windows Movie Maker, Adobe After Effects and Sony Vegas Pro 13 could not play the video. There was only a black screen, audio is fine and is played. I need to convert it to an MP4, in order for me to edit the video in Sony Vegas or Adobe After
Effects.

I've tried a third party app that converts MOV to MP4, however the free trial only converts one third of the video clip. At the time of this writing, I am converting it through an online website but I doubt it will convert the entire video for free, there
will be some limits. I've tried downloading QuickTime, but it also doesn't play the MOV with video.

I should probably be asking this question on Apple's forums, as I find it stupid, how it's so difficult to simply want to watch a video that you filmed on your iPhone onto your PC.

Please, I could really use some help in converting this MOV to MP4 as I need to start editing as soon as possible. Thank you.
