Windows 10: App StartAllBack quit working as of Feb 11, 2025 update on Windows 11

I have the StartAllBack program so that I can have my start menu at the top of my screen instead of at the bottom. Since the Tuesday updates on February 11, my StartAllBack icons will not stay, they keep disappearing and I have to redo them. There does not seem to be any pattern to them disappearing. I have tried adjusting with different options in the properties, but it does not work. I would appreciate help. Wish microsoft would put the choice to move the task bar back to the user.

StartAllBack issue concerning the new Windows 11 update that glitches the taskbar

Yesterday last night I updated Windows 11 to version 22H2 (OS Build: 22621.3007) and shut down the computer after it finished updating. This morning, I decided to turn on my computer and found out that StartAllBack is not working properly.

The Windows button on the taskbar looked like this. It was clearly the StartAllBack taskbar configuration and the Windows 11 taskbar overlapping one another. I tried many things such as uninstalling StartAllBack and even downloading a more up-to-date version of the setup executable, yet it didn't work. Messing with the configurations in Windows 11 taskbar settings or the StartAllBack settings did not help either. I tried restarting the computer three separate times and, as you might guess, it didn't achieve much. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is but I will give more information that is asked of me if needed.

 

Windows 10 and Windows 11

A 12 year old machine will not be officially supported on Windows 11, however there are workarounds to allow installation on older hardware. I strongly suggest visiting Windows 11 Forum and checking out the extensive discussions on this topic there. EDIT: Windows 10 will still be supported well into 2025.

 

Upgrade to Windows 11

Motim, If you are running Windows 10 & take the bypass steps discussed earlier, you can update to Windows 11. - Your OS disk does not need to be GPT, you do not need Secure boot, ... - I have an old computer running windows 11 and all its disks remain MBR with Secure boot absent. I remain puzzled.

And do bear in mind that you don't need to change to Windows 11. Windows 10 will remain supported until 2025. Denis
