    The audio output device setting in 'App volume and device preferences' doesn't actually work at all.

    In 'App volume and device preferences', I set an output audio device other than the default device for my app. I then closed and reopened the application for my change to take effect.

    Windows 10 did remember the sound devices I assigned to the individual app whenever I launched the app. But my app will not output to the assigned audio devices at all. It persists to output to the default one.

    What's wrong?

    My app is simple enough. It's a console application written with C#.

    var synthesizerMy = new SpeechSynthesizer();

    //synthesizerMy.SetOutputToDefaultAudioDevice();

    synthesizerMy.Speak("Are you ready?");

    synthesizerMy.Dispose();

    And I am sure that the driver of this assigned audio device works well. When I change the default output audio device to it, my app then will output to this usb audio device.

    So, I wonder why the output setting for my app in 'App volume and device preferences' does not work at all.

    My Windows 10 Pro is Ver. 1909.

    Thank you for your advice.

    Thank you, sir.

    But my question is whether the output setting for individual app in 'App volume and device preferences' exactly work. My app is just a simple enough speech app.

    App volume and device preferences don't stick

    Every time I switch from desktop speakers to headset, the volume slider in App volume and device preferences reverts to 60%. I can manually reset it to 100% which is my preference and it continues at 100% until the next time I switch audio output devices. OS is 64x Win10 Pro v1803.

    I have tried this headset in a second PC which also runs 64x Win10 Pro v1803 and I get the same result: volume reverts to 60% when switching from speakers to headset.

    I have also tried this headset in a Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 tablet. Android doesn't have a way to show volume level as in Win10, but I can tell by the sound coming from the earphones that volume is not being automatically reduced.

    The headset is CORSAIR VOID PRO RGB Wireless Headset.
    This headset uses iCUE software interface from Corsair.

    My preference is to use a native configuration setting within Windows to prevent automatic changes of volume. If that's not possible, then I would like to use a Batch script or a PowerShell script that will re-set the volume for this headset to my preferred level.

    Thank you.

    Update:
    I just learned from Corsair Tech Support that the reversion to 60% is an intentional "feature" for the protection of users. I need the extra volume because of a hearing impairment. It would be really great if someone could point me to a Batch script or a PowerShell script that will re-set the volume for this headset.

    Thank you.
