Windows 10: App with open window cannot be brought to foreground

Discus and support App with open window cannot be brought to foreground in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; In my text processor Notepad++ I regularly do all kinds of text searches.     App with open window cannot be brought to foreground


    In my text processor Notepad++ I regularly do all kinds of text searches. Often I leave the search window open when I switch to another application such as my browser. Unfortunately this doesn't work anymore since the latest Windows update. I can switch away from Notepad++ this way but I cannot go back. The Notepad++ app is on the taskbar and when I press its icon it becomes temporarily visible. But there is no way to get it back as the foreground app. My only option is killing it the hard way and starting it again.This makes the latest Windows version for me the worst in at least a decade.

    Windows not brought to foreground

    I have a issue that I have not been able to fix.

    My Settings window is not being brought to the foreground if it is already open.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Open Settings

    2. Open another window of some sort and place it on top of the settings window so it becomes buried .

    3. Open the start menu, Search for settings, and hit enter.

    I expect the foreground window to be brought to the front again, but it is not. The start menu does not even close after hitting enter or selecting the settings app. I end up having to alt tab through the myriad of windows I have open to find my settings app to change the setting I want to change.

    This only happens on the standard user account I have setup. If I login as my admin account, I have no issues.

    Windows not brought to foreground

    Hello, I created a new standard local account (no Microsoft account attached) and the issue seems to persist. It seemed to be fixed at first, but now today it has stopped working again.

    I noticed today that if the settings app is open but in the background, instead of it being brought to the foreground, the settings app icon in the taskbar just flashes orange. Is there some kind of setting I am missing?

    All of a sudden, the windows I open are in the background and cannot be brought to the foreground by clicking on them. Also the task bar has quit sliding out if I have a window opened full screen. I have to downsize the window to get the task bar to
    slide out from the side.
