AppleSSD SCSI device on Win11 system?

    Hi,
I have noticed a driver for AppleSSD SCSI miniport on my laptop - ASUS running Win11.
I presume this is the SSD that is preinstalled with the machine? but cant help wonder why and how it is called Apple? does anyone know if this is normal?

AppleSSD SCSI device on Win11 system?

Hello , my name is Marco and I will do my best to help you.

The presence of an "AppleSSD SCSI miniport" driver on your ASUS laptop may seem unusual, especially since Apple is typically associated with its own hardware and software ecosystem.

However, there are a few reasons why this driver could appear on a Windows-based system.

The term "AppleSSD" in the driver name does not necessarily indicate that the SSD hardware is manufactured by Apple or that it is the same as the SSDs used in Apple computers. It could simply be a naming convention used by the driver's developer, or it might refer to a specific model or series of SSDs that are compatible with both Apple and non-Apple hardware.

It's also possible that the driver was installed as part of a standard driver package or during an automatic update process, where the system attempts to ensure all necessary drivers are present for a wide range of hardware. This can sometimes lead to drivers being installed that are not directly used by the system.

If the laptop is functioning correctly and the SSD is operating as expected, the driver is likely doing its job, regardless of its name.

    SATA or SCSI?

If I have two wd250 SE-16 SATA style HDD's in my system, why when I go to the device manager and check the hardware does the system list these HDD's as SCSI drives? Why are they not being interpreted as SATA drives?

The system works great but it makes me wonder if I have gone to the trouble of using SATA's but the system is running as if I were using SCSI or IDE drives. NO big deal....just wondering.
