    Hello guys,

    Whenever I switch on my pc, there is a hidden application called desktop (two of them) on my Desktop looking like a white page with a gear symbol on on the bottom left.

    Is this a problem or is it supposed to be like that?

    I haven't touched them yet, should I leave it the way it is?

    I'm really worried this pc is brand new. Any help is greatly appreciated!

    File explorer not on desktop! (and other applications deleted too!)

    Hi,

    It is unusual that programs would disappear after downloading an application.

    To better understand the query, please answer the following questions:

    1. What exactly is the application that you downloaded?

    2. Are you able to locate the "deleted" programs by typing in the name of the applications through the search bar?

    Just to make sure you do not have the desktop files set to "hidden", I suggest you to try the steps below and check:

    1. Press Windows key + D to go to desktop.

    2. Right click on an empty space in the desktop and select "view"

    3. Select "show desktop icons".

    Check if the icons/programs re-appear after making the changes.

    Get back to us with the response.

    windows 10 deleted my desktop files

    Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

    Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

    copied all files again to desktop.

    Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

    Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

    • Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
    • Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
    • Click on Users, select your User name
    • Go to desktop folder
    Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

    sometimes shows an error. This error
    pops up on my current virtual desktop.
    Is not that a mistake? Second observation: application
    launches another application on a hidden
    virtual desktop. This application runs on
