Windows 10: Application error 1000 after last update

After last update, several applications stopped working properly, freezing or crashing my PM into BSOD. In event viewer I found many application errors with Event ID 1000 about missing applications:• C:\WINDOWS\system32\compattelrunner.exe• C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy\SearchApp.exe both in module module C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll• C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe module module C:\WINDOWS\System32\combase.dll• C:\WINDOWS\system32\conhost.exe in module of same name• C:\Program Files x86\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer\resources\app\ServiceHub\Services

I am using Macrium Reflect 6.3 (paid) and backing up from a Samsung SSD to a brand new "dedicated" WD BLACK 1TB within my computer. Speeds are great, but I keep getting this ERROR. I tried MANY things, but ALL FAIL.
Please HELP !!

"We have an emerging issue in Microsoft Edge and we're currently working to permanently resolve it. For now, we'd like to share a workaround about recovering the said application. You can refer to the steps shared by Tiero Chi on this thread."

The error listed in the initial post began with build .608 in 9/17. Judging by comments here, it is an O/S, not a PC-specific issue. As EDGE does function, the error seems benign, if annoying, and likely can be overlooked.
