Hi.FYI - none of what is happening below is a problem with the regular file system. We have an application that is storing a set of text files YAML to a subdirectory of Documents, which is mapped to OneDrive.Lets call this subdirectory "Library1" and it contains YAML files such as "Library1.yaml".This YAML file also contains text referencing "Library1".We have ability to rename this library from within the application. If I rename "Library1" to "Library2" the code performs the following steps:Rename the Library1 folder to Library2Update Library2/Library1.yaml file content to "Library2"Rename

  2. Rename folder to OneDrive asks Confirm Replacement with another folder

    Hi Kent,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

Based on your description, we suggest that you can do it all over again as follows:

    • Open OneDrive settings on your computer.
    • Go to the "Accounts" tab and click on "Unlink this computer".
    • Restart your computer.
    • Delete the D:/OldOneDrive folder.
You can try renaming the old OneDrive folder to something else, then create a new OneDrive folder and set it as a local folder in the OneDrive app.

If the above does not work, then you can try the following steps:

    • Open a "Command Prompt" on your computer (run as administrator).
    • Type rd /s /q "D:\OldOneDrive" and press Enter.
This will delete the "OldOneDrive" folder and all its contents.

    • Create a new folder in D:/ and name its OneDrive.
    • Open the OneDrive application and log in.
    • During the setup process, choose to change the OneDrive folder location to D:/OneDrive.
Please note that this will permanently delete the "OldOneDrive" folder and all its contents, so please ensure that you have backed up all your important data.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Your Sincerely

  3. Filename is Randomly Highlighted while Renaming Files in OneDrive Synced Folders

    Hi Andrew Hanshaw,

    Welcome post in Microsoft Community.

I'm Mosken, I do apologize for the inconvenience that you're experiencing right now, let me help you sort things out.

According to your description, I knew that when you modify the file name in the OneDrive sync directory, an exception is displayed, and the existing content will be randomly selected when entering, causing you to fail to rename. If my understanding is wrong, please correct me in the reply.

Do you view the result of the modification through other ways (such as a browser) after modifying the file name in this way. Because I speculate that this may be caused by your unstable network. According to your description, the possible situation is: when you enter "test-", OneDrive will automatically sync, but you are still in the editing state, so all filenames were selected, and then when you enter "1", " test-" was replaced. So I suggest you try other networks to see if it works.

Then, you can try to log out current account, restart the system, then log in again, and after the OneDrive sync is complete, try changing the file name again.

The above steps are provided based on the information I have learned so far, I wish that will be helpful to you. If your problem still cannot be solved by these steps, please tell me more specific situation in the next reply. I will continue to assist you in solving the problem.

    Best Regards,

    OneDrive as an application?

Lately OneDrive appears as one of the applications installed on my system; and the Windows Exprolorer lists it among the content of the system.
As shown there, it appears to contain a single file (or feature, maybe not a real file) with this name: .849C9593-D756-4E56-8D6E-42412F2A707B. Clicking on this just opens an empty Notebook and nothing else happens.

    - How can I get rid of this application, as it seems quite useless, and I'm not aware of having installed it myself?
I cannot delete the file mentionned because a process keeps it open, a pop-up says.
I cannot uninstall OneDrive because that option is disabled on the list of applications.

    - And what is this OneDrive application anyway? It doesn’t seem to be the same thing as OneDrive, the storage space in the cloud, which I use regularly, and performs all right.

    Thanks for any help.
