Windows 10: Application size and aspect ratio after fresh boot are reset

Hello,

after boot, when I start the first time an application like word, excel or PDF viewer, the aspect ratio and size are reset and the apps are opened not in the same size like the last time closed.

I have a 32:9 screen and several apps start in 32:9 aspect ratio (in most cases useless, 3:4 would be better)

I can then resize them and close - the next start they are the size and aspect ratio like closed before. But after reboot this is lost.

Is there a way t avoid this reset of the size and ratio of windows after reboot?

This problem came up last year but I don't know after which windows update exactly.

It happens on several windows machines (real and virtual).

Regarding to your information I assume that you have some issues on application size and aspect ratio after fresh boot are reset.

We are unable to reproduce your issue on a 16:9 screen (Windows 11 23H2 Windows 10 22h2). Based on your description,

it seems that this issue

occurs after a system reboot. It could be related to a user account profile file or a bug triggered by the 32:9 screen aspect ratio,

causing these caches to be cleared. Since you experience this issue on multiple Windows systems, it's highly likely not related to

the Windows account profile.

You can check if the same issue occurs on a display with a different aspect ratio to help further diagnose the problem.

If it's working fine you can submit your issue through the Feedback Hub, and the development team will regularly review

submissions for ideas or fixes.

First, the 32:9 display is not the problem. Apps open exactly in the aspect ratio that the screen is. So if I start a VM with 5:4 ratio, the apps are opened also in 5:4 format. The real machine was only affected when connected to the company network. Standalone the settings were stored correctly.

But the hint for the user profile was helpful. Because I checked other settings and they are also not stored at logout. Even deleted files appear again after reboot und new downloaded files disappear. The profiles of several machines are stored together.

So I hope if the profile problem is solved, then also the window settings will be stored also correctly.

For the moment I need no further help for this topic.
