Windows 10: "Application won't run on Windows" warning

When I try to run the CCleaner program I get the following message:


"CCLEANER can't run on Windows

This app may impact PC security or performance. Check for an updated app that runs on this version of Windows.

Compatibility Assistant"


There are two options, "Check for Updates or "Dismiss".



I assumed clicking on "dismiss" would dismiss the warning message and allow the program to run but when I select it the message goes away and CCleaner doesn't run.


I've been using this version of CCleaner in Windows 10 for over a year without any problems and without receiving any warning messages.

I don't want to update the CCleaner program because of a problem concerning malware being downloaded along with CCleaner from official download sites (see https://blog.malwarebytes.com/security-world/2017/09/infected-ccleaner-downloads-from-official-servers/ for more info).


How do I disable the compatibility warning/disabling function so I can run CCleaner?

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: Run Windows app troubleshooter.

Step 2: Run shell commands for Windows store and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and select
  Command prompt(Admin) to open elevated Command prompt.
  
• 
  Type the following commands.
  
  
  
  powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml
  
• 
  Hit enter, the blackscreen will appear still for a couple of seconds. After a couple of second a new line saying C:\.... will appear.
  
• 
  Close Command Prompt.
  
• 
  Try to start the Windows Store again.
