Windows 10: Application works on Windows 10 Home 64 Desktop but not on laptops using same Windows platform

I have Windows 10 Home 64 on both my desktop and laptops. My Quicken Home Inventory software continues to work on my desktop with all updates installed. However, the software no longer works on the laptops Dell and Lenovo 2-in-1 using the same Windows 10 Home 64 platform. Can you explain why an application would work on one platform, but not the other?

I have seen many reviews which compare 64-bit vs. 32-bit and there is not much gain to see, unless you use specialized applications.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Thats awesome! I wonder just how far we can bend it! for the record the official system requirements for the tech preview are as follows.

• Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster
  
  
• RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
  
  
• Free hard disk space: 16 GB
  
  
• Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver
  
  
• A Microsoft account and Internet access

which are the same for windows 8 operating systems.
