Windows 10: Applications and programs in Windows 10 automatically minimizing and cant be re-selected

I'm running Windows 10 and have my Surface Pro and 3 additional monitors(one connected with USB, one with VGA, and 1 with HDMI - done this way due to availability of ports). Programs on two of my additional monitors keep auto-minimizing and when I try and re-expand or select, the computer keeps minimizing them again and moving the mouse cursor back to my laptop screen. It wont let me select and pop them open again from my laptop's taskbar. Its specifically happening with non-fullscreen windows such as Skype and Outlook email windows that pop up, and other programs such as Excel and PPT.


I've confirmed I do NOT have Tablet mode turned on. I have uninstalled display drivers and reset them, I have reset and restarted Windows Explorer, I have checked my mouse settings. I am not gaming, so there are no game settings to change. All current solutions posted haven't fixed the problem.


This problem got worse after I updated my Windows 10 version.


Has anyone else experienced this issue, or can suggest any other settings I should try?

My windows keeps minimizing my programs.

As you are facing issues with access the programs that keeps minimized on your device do not worry, we will help you with this issue.

Do let us know the following to assist you better with this issue:

• Have you made any changes to the operating system prior to this issue that might have resulted this?
• Were you able to see any error message/ error code when the programs minimizes?
• Does this issue occurs in Safe mode as well?

Try few of the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to Run the System maintenance troubleshooter
as it
finds and clean up unused files and shortcuts and performs maintenance tasks.

• Press Windows key and type
  Troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting and hit
  Enter.
• Click on View all in the left pane of the window.
• Select System Maintenance.
• Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

Method 2: If the issue still persists then,

Step 1: Start computer in safe mode that boots the device with minimal set of drivers and check if the issue persists..

If the issue persists then,

Step 2: Perform Clean boot to avoid any third party software conflict.
