Windows 10: Applications and programs suddenly vanish even though Task manager shows them running?

Hi, I'm at my wits end and I could really use some advice here:

This problem started a few months ago after KB4574727 update.

This sometimes happens after a few hours of working on my laptop. This will 100% happen if I close my laptop's lid, let it sit for a few minutes and open it again: It will randomly minimize or just vanish whatever foreground program I am using. I then cannot maximize it again. This will then start happening with everything that I bring in the foreground even for a few seconds including explorer, settings app etc. So far only Task Manager seems to be immune.

Weird thing is the applications themselves do not actually close. I can see their instance running in the Task Manager.

I have tried all the usual solutions: Roll back the update, use a previous restore point, try the sfc/scannow thing but to no avail. It's been months and I'm still facing the same problem.

Even more strange is I can't find a single person online facing the same issue. I have no idea why this is happening, what's causing the issue and how do I troubleshoot/fix it.

Short of resetting my PC or doing a clean install (really can't do that atm with so much work), is there anything else I can do?

Device: Asus ROG GL552VX
Windows version: 1909
OS build: 18363.1256 Antivirus: Kaspersky (since the last 3-4 years)

Solution that sometimes worked in the past: Installing an older driver for integrated intel 530 card would fix it until a new update came and that would break it again. This doesn't seem to be working anymore either.

If someone faced something similar or have any idea what could be the culprit here, please reply. Thank you

Program running a background process?

I'm running Corel Video Studio 2018, and it's updates function shows characteristics of a background process:

- the program has an auto check daily plus a manual option for updates

- manually checked, presented with an option of downloading an update and Ok'd, evidence of any activity vanishes from the program workspace, yet the connected internet modem activity light begins running hot as the download happens

- it's repeatable over several up-date cycles

The evidence seems to suggest a background activity - whilst the program/PC is free to use for other things. Several software packages do this.

However, a check in task manager/processes, show all, does not display any info of a related background process for any Corel or Video Studio program. If a background process is being used by the software, MUST it be listed in the task manager/processes
list?

Platform is windows 7 home sp1 64bit plus the important patches.

Which program are you referring to?

If Windows states that the program but can't see it, then I would suggest you check in the task manager if the program is running in the background. Right click on the start menu and select "Task manager" and check if the process is listed in the processes
that are running currently. If yes, right click on the program and click on "End task" to end the process completely. Now restart the PC and try launching the program. If the issue persists, get back to us with the name of the application that you are trying
to use so that we can check suggest accordingly.

 

Portable Application don't Show but running in Task Manager

I have the ultrasurf application and it does not show if I am going to try to run but it is running in task manager. Please help me to fix this. Thank You!
