Firewall in Windows 10 blocks internet

I have updated to Windows10 and the firewall keeps blocking my internet. I have tried everything I could find to resolve this problem but the only thing I can do that helps is turning the firewall off totaly. The problem is that once my laptop goes in standby
or my wifi has no internet the firewall automaticly turns back on and blocks internet again. Can someone please help me step by step with either how to allow internet with the firewall on or how to get rid of the firewall all together because I keep missing
skype messages for work because I don't realize that internet is blocked.

Also I have noticed that since the update my wifi receiver is not as strong as before, I used to have wifi in the whole house and now if I go to another room I lose my connection, and then the whole firewall block problem starts all over again

Free/cheap easy-to-use allow-by-default firewall to block applications

Hello everyone

A little background: I have a program on my computer that legitimately access the internet very, very regularly (a text editor that consults an online database and adds to it), but whenever it does so, it slows down the program. I would like to be able to easily prevent just that program from accessing the internet for a while. The current solution is to simply plug out the internet cable... but then I can't use the internet for other purposes, e.g. receiving urgent e-mails, doing web searches for research, etc.

I have looked at a few free or cheap "simple" firewalls that are able to block applications, but most of them are "block by default", i.e. they block all applications except for a few "major" ones, and then the user has to figure out how to whitelist other programs that the user wants to be able to access the internet. I was surprised that this is the most common way of working, in fact.

Do you know of a reasonably simple firewall (i.e. one that does not involve a dozen steps to block and unblock) that blocks nothing until you tell it to block an application?

To address this concern, we suggest that you follow these steps on how to block apps and programs from accessing network connection through Windows Firewall:

• Open Control Panel and click System and Security.
• On the Windows Firewall page, select Allow a program through Windows Firewall.
• Uncheck the box to the left of the application names to disallow them from accessing network connection.
• If other programs are not listed, just click Allow another program/app button to add them.
