  1. Applications starting in background messing with my encryption setup

    Dear Windows 10 guru's,

I have a pretty neat setup where I have a shared home partition that I can use with Windows 10 as well as Linux on my laptop, but a change in login behavior changed my luck with this setup. All three partitions (Linux, Windows, Home) are encrypted, and VeraCrypt decrypts the home partition along with the system partition.

It used to be that if I waited a tiny bit before logging in after booting Windows, the home partition would be mounted correctly in time for me to not get any errors, since the data directories (Desktop, Documents, Pictures, etc.) are located on the home partition and thus can't be found before this drive is both decrypted and mounted succesfully.

Now I think an update in Windows made it such that before you log in on a single-user system it starts applications in the background before you login, which results in an array of errors and buggy behavior because Windows can't find the Desktop directory.

Is there any way to disable this behavior (aside from creating an additional user) or to configure a boot timeout to give VeraCrypt more time to mount the partition without third party applications? I'm more used to the Linux environment so these things might not be possible, if someone could point me in a direction that'd be great as well.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Background applications

    Hi Robert,

We understand that you don't want some apps to run on the background of your computer. What we suggest is to
control which apps are allowed to run in the background. To see which apps have permission, just follow the below steps:

    • Open the Start menu or Start screen and select “Settings.”
    • Click or tap the “Privacy” icon in the Settings.
    • Scroll down to the bottom of the list and select “Background apps.”
    • You’ll see a list of apps that have permission to run in the background with an “On/Off” toggle.
Just bear in mind that, apps normally run in the background to update their live tiles, download new data, and receive notifications. If you want an app to continue performing these functions, you should allow it to continue running in
    the background.

Feel free to update us with the results.
