    Found these two programs in startup on my sons computer...don't know if they are viruses and don't know if I should get rid of them and how. Tried searching internet but not finding exactly what it is.

  2. Windows 10 new Photo app

    From running the TroubleShooter that was mentioned it appears that (possibly) there may be some (unknown) issue with sync'ing that causes Photos to behave incorrectly (by not operating at all) ... OK I'll buy that.

    So in researching further I discovered that one can manipulate the sync settings either through the Win 10 GUI interface (which I have done) or, ... one can go directly to the Registry, specifically HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SettingSync\Groups
    and manipulate the keys directly.

    So I did and I found that I could enable/disable 10 different settings. Before changing any the values of the 10 keys however the current values are set as follows: Accessibilty(Enabled),
    AppSync(Disabled), BrowserSettings(Enabled), Credentials(Enabled), DesktopTheme(Enabled), Language(Enabled), PackageState(Enabled), Personalization(Enabled), StartLayout(Enabled), and Windows(Enabled).

    So only the AppSync key is actually NOT enabled. And the Troubleshooter suggested that there was a sync issue with apps. Could some Windows 10/Microsoft Guru please tell me if my setting is
    significant and if I should set the AppSync Enabled key to 1 (On); I am loathe to monkey about with Registry settings on a whim?

    Thanks

  3. Getting just-in-time debugging error

    I did follow the the last line when it says to enable JIT still getting error? Thanks

    See the end of this message for details on invoking

    just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

    ************** JIT Debugging **************

    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

    application or computer (machine.config) must have the

    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.

    The application must also be compiled with debugging

    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>

    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />

    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    AppMaster and AppSync

    I was able to remove AppMaster...I guess it was tied to something called ZipCruncher. It looks like AppSync is also tied to that but I cannot get it off the computer.

    Got them both off, had to use Revo Free...One program was called ZipCruncher and another was called Mennythanks...

    Doesn't sound like good stuff.

    Can't tell if ZipCruncher is legit or not, but something about it does seem off. From what I can tell Mennythanks, however, is DEFINITELY trouble, and is qualified as browser redirect, browser hijack, and adware source at various malware tracking sites and even in an answers.microsoft.com thread. Sounds like you were right to get rid of them. What are you using for Malware protection? Have you run a scan recently? You might want to try the Malwarebytes or Trend Micro Housecall scanners to see if they detect anything.

    If Malwarebytes isn't turning anything up, you're probably out of danger. You'll want to keep a close eye on your system and look for anything out of the ordinary for a while, though. All's well that ends well, right?
    Best wishes,
