  1. Apps can't get to microphone

I have a Windows 10 PC where nobody can hear me, regardless of whether it's zoom, google meets, etc.

I don't think it's the apps - multiple programs are impacted.

I don't think it's hardware - in control panel, I can tell that Windows can hear me because the little bar bounces around with the volume level. I also have a bluetooth headset that works on other PCs, but exhibits the same behavior on this PC.

It sounds like the privacy settings in Settings->Privacy->Microphone are set up wrong, but that's not the case! Microphone access for both MS store apps and desktop apps is both set to on. It says right in there that whatever app I'm trying to use is "Currently in use" when I'm trying to use it, and the microphone app shows up in the task bar... we just get zero sound coming through. However, this problem seems to be limited to desktop apps only, because I can get Cortana to hear me, although I have shout at her for her to understand, even with the microphone volume turned all the way up.

What else can I possibly try to get this working?

    :)
