    Hello! For a while now, apps such as google chrome and cs:go keep crashing and/or freezing. When it freezes it freezes my entire laptop and I have to manually shut it down using the power button. I've had problems with page file size, let my system manage it and it got to 18GB still crashing/freezing, so I searched for solutions and I manually set it at 4GB max, but that didn't fix anything.I have 71GB free space on my C: drive and 2 8gb ddr4 ram sticks different manufacturer, same speed. I don't know if that is the problem but I would greatly appreciate some help!

    Memory issue. Browser crashing, laptop apps not loading.

    OK here are my screenshots below.

    (I am typing this in Word first, because every time I post on the forum or online the browser disappears. This is the 3rd time I've typed this!)

    The tutorial for pagefile that Callender posted has different screenshots to mine. I cannot find pagefile.sys for example. See pics. I found the same boxes though by a different method.

    But do I input the exact same numbers as shown on the tutorial? Or do I input different numbers?

    Well I'm not exactly expert on Memory issues if caused by apps. If nothing in Chrome's Task Manager is hogging RAM then you might have a memory leak. A temporary fix or test might be to install this:

    Mem Reduct

    memreduct-3.3.5-setup.exe

    Set it like this:

    Then also keep an eye on memory in use via the system tray icon. If you only see it climb when using Chrome then possibly it might be time to back up your Chrome bookmarks and then fully remove Chrome (including leftovers) and try installing a fresh copy.

    FYI: You will likely get people commenting that it is best to let windows handle memory management but it won't handle memory leaks. (If that is what you've got).

    I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
    Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
    What happens?
    If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

    P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
    Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
    What X1800XT model do you own exactly?
