Apps NOT faster after adding an SSD.

I added an Crucial SSD of 240GB. Installed Windows 10. It works fine.

Windows boots faster and shuts down faster too. Windows is already updated and Defender too. Drivers are perfect.

My PC is an i5-2400 at 3.1GHZ with 8GB RAM.

However, apps like Firefox, VLC, Photoshop, PDF readers, Office...DEFINITELY ARE NOT FASTER and take as long as they took to open and close when the PC had a traditional 7200rpm hard drive.

In other words, only Windows itself is faster...apps AREN'T.

Has anyone ever experienced something like that?

    Thanks.

    :)

NEWLY added apps are not showing on Start App list

    Hi Tamal,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    1. Is Cortana able to search the apps installed?

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if that helps.

    • Type Start Settings in Search and hit
      Enter.
    • Turn on Show recently added apps in jump list of Start of Taskbar.

Hope this information is helpful. Please do let us know if you need further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist you.

    Page file on faster SSD

I have 8GB ram with a 120GB Sata 3 SSD and several hard disk drives. Windows 10 is installed on the SSD. The page file is managed by Windows.

I've added a faster 256GB PCIe 3.0 SSD. I'm mainly using this new drive for data, but should I tell Windows to put the page file on the faster SSD?

    PC Upgrade

    1. no, only upgrade the CPU if you are going to go with either Haswell or Skylake.
    2. I'll say no since you're gaming at only 1080p. 1440p or higher and I would say yes.
    3. Yes, biggest noticeable performance gain available out of the options you listed.

suggestion- look into adding a SSD to your system as the primary drive. Overall, the addition of an SSD will give the most noticeable performance gains. Any program or app installed on the SSD will load 10-100 times faster than it does when installed on a hard drive. It won't improve your FPS while playing, but maps/levels will load a hell of a lot faster.
