    Apps not opening

Hi there. I am an IT novice so not too familiar with all the techy language. Anyway my laptop recently told me that I needed to update my version on windows 10 v. 1909 for x64 KB4537572. So I duly did what it asked and ran the update. All apps were working fine prior to the update notification and now none of the open except for the MS Office applications. I have tried the 'Add and remove programmes' to try and uninstall and install again, but the apps won't even uninstall.

I have also seen in the MS community the 'fixes' which I have followed but these haven't fixed the issue.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

    Mike

Method 1: Run the App troubleshooter from the link below, and check if the issue is resolved:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/run-the-troubleshooter-for-windows-app

Method 2: If the issue persist, reset the store cache by following the steps below, and check if the issue is resolved.

Step 1: Open Run command by pressingWindows Key + R.

Step 2: Type wsreset.exe, and pressEnter.

Method 3: If the issue persist, follow the steps below, and check if the issue is resolved

Step 1: Right click on the Start icon, and selectCommand prompt Admin.

Step 2: Click on Yes, and continue. Provide administrator password if prompted.

Step 3: Check if it shows Administrator: Command Prompt at the top of the command prompt window.

Step 4: Type the following command in the command prompt, and pressEnter.

    PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$$_.InstallLocation\AppXManifest.xml"}

Step 5: Restart the system, and check if the issue is resolved.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. Apps not opening :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hey Shawn,
I did that to no avail, then I ran WSReset.exe; now I'm good on all 3, Mail, Calendar and People! *Confused
    Go figure!

    Cannot open mail app settings

OK, my next suggestion was going to be uninstalling Mail and Calendar and reinstalling from the Windows Store. You can have a go at this by following these steps.

    1. Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell.
    2. Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
    3. Enter the below command to remove the Mail and calendar app.

    get-appxpackage *microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps* | remove-appxpackage

After performing the above steps, install the Mail and calendar app from the Windows Store.

Hope this helps, you will, of course, have to add you accounts back again.
