Windows 10: Apps Not working + Mp4 Videos not Opening

I Have This Problem That Apps like Calculator and microsoft store and Calendar is not opening in the serach bar and when i open it i see the download thing when you download a microsoft store app its full but it Dosen't work

When i Open A Mp4 Video it says

"operation returned because the timeout period expired"

MP4 refuses to open with WMP

Go to the Control Panel:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Default Programs
Find that app you installed in the list, select 'Choose defaults for this program' and un-tick .mp4 - that may help...




...alternatively, uninstall your app and install VLC instead. I can confirm that VLC plays .flv files.

 

Can't view some .mp4 videos in Photos app

I'm pretty sure this is a new issue that appeared with the latest updates. I have Windows 10 feature update version 2004 and cummulative update for X64 KB4566782.

I am not able to view some .mp4 videos in Photos or Windows Media Player. The audio works, but the video doesn't. I tried updating my codecs with the

K-Lite Codec Pack, which was referenced on several help forums, but this only partly solved the problem. After updating these codecs, I now do see thumbnails of the videos in Windows Explorer, and if I change the extension from ".mp4" to ".video" (as suggested
by K-Lite), the video opens in Windows Media Player. But it still doesn't open in the Photos app, so I also can't edit it with the Photos app. When I keep the .mp4 extension, I can't open it in either app. These videos are downloaded from my Android Motorola
phone. I have other older .mp4 videos that work fine.

 

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
