Windows 10: Apps stay open on different desktops

When I use multiple desktops, the apps open on the taskbar aren't separate. For example, if I have file explorer open on desktop 1, when I switch to desktop 2 the app is still open. This didn't use to happen, and you could have a different set of apps open on different desktop. I am using Windows 11 Home 23H2 22631.3737. How can I fix this?

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

Deleted icons stay on desktop (not in desktop folder)

I can only suggest that you
1 Add a list of steps you have already taken.
2 Add a comment about restarting the computer. Do the deleted icons disappear then?
2 Add a comment explaining if any Desktop items do delete correctly and whether or not there are any significant differences between those that do delete correctly and those that don't.
3 Add a list of any OS tweaks you have done & any third-party OS-related utilities you have run.

I assume you have already reinstalled your display driver.
I don't see a Repair install as being relevant. Repair Install - TenForumsTutorials
