    Apps that were open before shutting down are reopening on startup


    I'm running Windows 10 Education 1909 Build 18363.1082. I did not change any settings recently and this started happening a couple of days ago. I suspect one of the many background updates did it. I always shut down my PC with apps open.

    I don't want apps to be "saved" and open when I start my PC the next day. Has this been happening for anyone else? This is very frustrating. Is there a Group Policy or setting that addresses this?

    Unable to enable a startup app

    I can't enable windows store app to start with windows.

    The step I folowed are

    • Open task manager
    • go to startup tab
    • select the app
    • enable
    and when I reopen it's set at disable

    How can I disable the new feature of Windows 10 that reopens the apps at startup which I left open when shutting down? Say, I do not close Chrome at shut down and when I turn on my computer, Chrome opens automatically. I do not want this feature. It is

    My pc takes for ever to shut down when i restart

    Suggest cleaning up your startup list .There may be many services / Apps you can remove on startup which is not needed on boot or during shutdown.
    Before you shutdown the Pc check what is running in Task Manager as a program or service in not killing the process on shutdown

    Would suggest cleaning up running apps and services -Autoruns, StartupMonitor,HighjackThis,
    Malware Scan - Malwarebytes,ADWcleaner, Combofix
