Windows 10: Apps won't open in Windows 10

Not seeing this particular problem when I search. Running Windows 10 Home, build 19041.746. I run 32GB of RAM and have an i5-10400 CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz.


When I first boot, I can easily open all my apps. If I leave an app running for a few hours, or even if I shut down all apps and just let the computer run, I come back 4-6 hours later and if I try to open an app from the taskbar or the desktop, the app in the taskbar shows it's underlined, so the app process is running, but the application won't open up so I can use it. Once this starts, it applies to all the applications on the computer. Nothing opens even though it shows the process running. Task Manager won't open. No game will open. No browser will open. When it was just a browser that was left minimized, I thought it might be a memory leak, so I opened my browsers and the task manager and viewed the resources used. Nothing continues to count up and I can't check resources when this happens because I can't start the task manager app.


I reboot and the problem goes away again. For a while. Then it happens again.


I saw that perhaps it was related to Microsoft store apps not updating. Nope, that's not the problem either.

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: Run Windows app troubleshooter.

Refer to the below link:

Step 2: Run shell commands for Windows store and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and select
  Command prompt(Admin) to open elevated Command prompt.
  
• 
  Type the following commands.
  
  
  
  powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml
  
• 
  Hit enter, the blackscreen will appear still for a couple of seconds. After a couple of second a new line saying C:\.... will appear.
  
• 
  Close Command Prompt.
  
• 
  Try to start the Windows Store again.
