  1. AppXSVC running even though disabled. Consuming large amounts of RAM.

Despite disabling AppXSVC in both gpedit and regedit, it still runs on startup, eating up large amounts of RAM. In Services it indeed shows it Disabled. It also shows it Running. I'm unable to stop it; all of those options are greyed out. Multiple restarts have not helped. I'm running Win 11 23H2.

  2. What actually the process LSASS does and why it actually consumes a large amount of bandwidth quota?

What actually the process LSASS does and why it actually consumes a large amount of bandwidth quota? This machine runs on Windows 2016. What are the troubleshooting steps to minimize the bandwidth consumption.

  3. Photos App continues to run as a Background process, consuming a large amount of memory, when allowing it to run in the background is turned off.

I am having an issue on several Windows 10 PCs (both Version 1703 and 1709) where the Photos app keeps running as a background process, consuming a large amount of memory. In

    another thread
    it was suggested that I:

    • In Cortana, type Privacy Settings
      and press Enter.
    • Look for Background apps.
    • Look for Photos in the list.
    • Flip the switch to Off.
    • Restart your computer.

At first it seemed to work, but checking Task Manager several hours later, I see it's ignoring my setting not to allow Photos to run in the background. That's an even more troubling than the memory consumption.

    What now?

I posted this item in Feedback Hub: Privacy/Background Apps Settings are being ignored.

Windows 10 1903 - Large Amounts of Hardware Reserved RAM

    Hi all,

Are there any documented cases of the Windows 10 1903 build allocating large amounts of hardware reserved RAM?

I have an 8GB HP Envy x360, but it says that 2.1GB RAM is hardware reserved.

Having spoken with HP and tried to troubleshoot using msconfig and checking the BIOS, they have advised me that it is a Windows issue.
