Windows 10: April 14 update has completely messed up my PC. Help!

I installed the latest Microsoft update for Windows 10 at the end of the day April 14. When I went to log in the next morning everything had slowed down. I mean really slowed down, like 5 to 10 mins after I’d clicked on something it might happen. I can hear the computer running/thinking but everything is taking ages or not working at all.

- I’ve tried to reboot several times. No luck.

- We tried to defrag, that took forever and only completed 92% then stalled, all night. We finally had to shut down and restart but there was no improvement.

- we tried to update our virus software thinking that would help but no luck.

- I am right now trying to uninstall the latest update but I’m 20 mins in and the window that pops up with the green bar and says “Please wait while updates are being uninstalled” shows no sign that its doing anything.


This has made my computer useless and any help you might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

• Which game are you referring to?
• Is this issue specific to any game?

I would suggest you to restore the system to the previous point where PC was working normally and check if this helps in resolving the issue. To do so kindly follow the below given steps:

• 
  Press Windows + I key and click on Update and security.
  
• 
  Click on Recovery, and click on
  Restart under Advance startup.
  
• 
  In the Windows Recovery Environment, on the Choose an option screen, click
  'Troubleshoot'.
  
• 
  Click, Advanced Options and then click on
  System Restore.
  
• 
  Follow the onscreen suggestion to restore your PC to earlier point.
