Windows 10: Are certain websites only compabile with certain versions of Windows

I am a first line technician for a company. One of our projects uses an AWS hosted website that is administered by one of our clients and has nothing to do with us. For some of our users but not all on the project the site does not load properly. It gets to the site but directs to the wrong bit of the site and freezes and is completely unusable. The client have said that they have not seen this error before and it must be an issue on our side.


I have checked our Antivirus and firewall - there is nothing blocking the site. I have cleared cache and browsing history and even changed browser they use Chrome by default but have tried Edge.


The only thing on our side I could think could be an issue is that, for many of our end users, they are using an out of date version of Windows 10 1803.


My question is - could an outdated version of Windows cause issues with certain websites being able to functionbearing in mind I know that our web browsers are up to date?

• As I understand you are unable to access certain websites, what websites are you not able to access?
• Have you logged in with a Microsoft account or a local account?

I suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.

• Network troubleshooter. Either search for it in the Search or run it by following the link below.

Fix Wi-Fi connection issues in Windows

• Try a different network adapter/connection type if possible.
• Check for Windows Updates.
• Check for drivers for the network adapter.
• Open a CMD window as Administrator:
  • dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  • sfc /scannow
  • netsh winsock reset

Also try to restart the DNS service.

• Press Windows Logo Key+X. Click on Run.
• Type services.msc. Click on Ok.
• Then find DNS client. Right-click on it to Stop it and Restart it.

Redirect certain webpages to kittens

Don't know about the kitten thing, but I do know that blocking "all NSFW" websites is gonna require a service/software that is updated regularly. This can either be done with software or with a router that supports such a feature, since the list of NSFW websites is constantly changing. Suggest you start with the option for family friendly surfing that is included as part of Windows Live Essentials.
