I don't play many games nowadays. Certainly not the newer ones as I tend to stick with games I've owned for years. One thing that concerns me is the size of install of the modern games. I've seen a couple of late that shocked me because they are 40-50 gb in size. That seems utter madness. Is that the norm nowadays? I was thinking of getting myself back into Steam but I don't fancy kicking off downloads that seem so large or even wasting such a large % of my hard drive to a single game.

    :)

6500 Slide No Low Battery Warning Tone

Yes. Ironically, modern batteries liked to be always charged - at least partially.

That is applicable and advisable for old batteries - early Nokia batteries - and especially NiMH and NiCd's. But not for modern batteries at the present.

Also, can it do harm to charge for say 30 minutes and not until it's full?

No. It won't pose any harm. As I've said, modern batteries like to be charged partially.

    Hope this helps

Cheers Are most modern games always about 50 gb? ;)

  3. BSOD crashes

I replied to your earlier post but that most probably didn't reach you.

If that is a part of a game, then reinstalling that game might fix that but the chances are 50/50.

50 percent in the sense-If the driver is corrupt, reinstalling would help.

and rest 50-If the driver is buggy, reinstalling wouldn't help.

The last dump wasn't of much help.

    Hi Scotty,

It appears the games just keep getting larger in size with no end in sight. In fact, there are a few out there that are well over 100GB in size. However, you can still find some games that are relatively small in size but who wants to buy a game based on size?

    Good luck,

  5. Yes, Scotty, that's the way it is with newer games 40GB-50GB download and hard drive space. Doom 2016, for example, is 54GB. If you look at games a couple of years old or more you will see many are about 20GB. Crysis 3 is 18.2GB, Project Cars 21.6GB. The older games are still fun to play.

I had 600GB storage on my hard drives. Now with the recent addition of an SSD, I have 1.1TB in total. Even with that I have to manage space and sadly games I don't play much anymore get uninstalled. Thank 4K textures in recent games for the large size and as a 1080P gamer the size of these recent games is mainly a nuisance and a cost to me. I think 1080P gaming at max settings and high frame rates is a great way to game. But I'm probably in a minority saying that and there's a number of companies out there that want to discourage that kind of thinking. $$$$$.

I have a similar broadband speed to you Scotty, I just leave it to download over night and its usually waiting for me to play the next day.

Not all games are that size, I think most indie titles are still a decent size.

  7. Only XBox One users. Your Xbox One warranty will be void if you upgrade the HDD which is stupid.

I had to laugh when I saw your response. How true! I bought an XBOX One with a 1TB drive. When I powered it up, I only had 778GBs usable. Then, I installed one game which used a whopping 115GBs. Then another which used 70GBs. Then a really small one which only used 65GBs.

Yep, XBOX One reserves some of that area for other functions. I forget what those functions are actually.

I don't know. I haven't researched what is using all that space. Anyway, I don't like the XBOX One so it just sits there gathering dust. It was a waste of money IMHO. I'm back to gaming on my PC. World of Tanks, here I come!

Mate, you should sell it. Also, what country do you played in WOT?

Thanks for the sell advice; however, I just recently bought it (dumb move). Actually, the reason I bought it was to try out the wireless connectivity to Windows 10 and that works really well; however, the game selection leaves something to be desired (for my purposes anyway). Anyway, I really don't need the cash so I'll let it sit for a bit to see if I change my mind.

I play WOT on the American-East server and I love matching up against the Russian migrants (with their specialized mods) who frequently visit us and try to pound the "U.S. monkeys" (as they refer to us). They put up a great battle but I have a 65% win rate against those guys so they usually "platoon up" when they see I'm in the game.

  15. You owned M103? I played the Germany because I love their tank designs. Ever heard of War Thunder?
