    Are my product keys genuine?


    Backstory

    In 2009 I bought a new PC that came with Windows 7 Home Prem OEM Software.


    In 2012 I decided to buy the upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate through Microsoft Windows Anytime Upgrade.

    In 2019 I bought a refurbished Dell PC that came with Windows 10 Home preinstalled. According to the seller on ebay, it has "Windows 10 Home Premium pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Premium license key"

    There is no sticker with a product key anywhere on the case of the PC. So I had to go into command prompt to bring up the product key which I wrote down.

    Because I was uncertain if the product key is genuine, I decided to change it in settings to my own Windows Anytime Upgrade license that I bought in 2012.

    After entering in my Windows 7 Ultimate product key that Microsoft emailed me in 2012, it's now saying that I have Windows 10 Enterprise except it's also saying "Windows reported that no product key was found on your device. Error code: 0xC004F213."

    Questions
    Do you think the version that came preinstalled with my refurbished Dell is genuine?
    Why is Windows reporting that my Windows 7 Ultimate Anytime Upgrade product key cannot be found?

    Can I even use my Windows 7 Ultimate Anytime Upgrade product key or is that key attached to my old 2009 PC which was thrown out years ago?

    Thank you for using Windows 10.

    I would like to inform you that if you've upgraded from a genuine qualifying activated version of Windows (Windows 7SP1/8.1), then you will not need a product key.

    • Let us know if you're facing any issues with activation or product key related?

    Product key not recognized


    I want to thank everyone for taking the time to respond to my query. I have to say some of the suggestions assume a tech capability beyond me.

    I think I will find the original receipt, go back to the shop, and ask them for the Product Key, then try again. I suspect it was an unauthorized copy. Maybe that will work.
