  1. Are Outlook 2010 items included in search results?

Whenever I performed a "Search programs and files" in Windows 7, the results included items from my Outlook 2010 data (e.g. contacts, messages, tasks). However, those items don't turn up in the Windows 10 search results, even though my Outlook PST files are listed in the Search Index. The instant search feature appears to work within Outlook 2010, though. Is this by design in Windows 10? Or is there something broken on my system?

    :)

  2. seach in win 10 and outlook 2010 after win 10 upgrade

After upgrading to Win10 search results do not include outlook items.

Win10 only finds files or folders but does not display outlook emails or outlook attachments.

In win7 when searching the results included both files and outlook items.

  3. Can you 'remove' other folders you've previously had sync to inbox?

Do you have conversation view enabled? In Mango, as with Outlook 2010 on the desktop, conversation view will include items from Sent items within relevant conversations. If that's the case you can turn off conversation view in the mail clients settings.

  4. Are Outlook 2010 items included in search results?

I may be wrong, but I believe this was changed in Windows 10. It was a feature I enjoyed and used often.

  5. It would be nice to know for certain if this feature has been removed in Windows 10. I keep thinking my installation is messed up because Outlook items (where I keep lots of notes on meetings and phone conversations) don't show up in a search. Sure, I can go into Outlook, and search for them there, but that's not as handy or as useful.

I also miss the ability to break out the search results into a separate window to further refine and sort them (and to save them for the future). For example, I recently needed to look up some documents related to a screenplay I wrote 11 years ago. Typing the producer's name into the Windows 7 search field turned up all the documents, along with our e-mail exchanges, Journal records of our telephone conversations, Task notes on deadlines, and Calendar entries for our meetings. All in one window, sorted by date. I would hate to give that up.

On that note, is there any way to save a search in Windows 10? There is a "Saved Searches" folder left over from Windows 7, as well as a "Favorites" folder, but it seems that Windows 10 does not integrate these folders into the OS. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Regarding your first question, answer would be yes. This page can give a bit more detailed info for different versions etc, which can be searched.

  7. Thanks for the information on Windows Search integration with Outlook. I just hate to see features I love (and have grown to depend on) deprecated with each new version of Outlook and Windows. It's the loss of the Journal in Outlook 2013 (and the ugly interface) that keeps me on Outlook 2010. Windows 10 has some nifty features, but I have a feeling it's going to make me less productive.

Are Outlook 2010 items included in search results?

I've seen mentions of search success with 3rd party start menu replacement. Although it isn't very probable in my opinion.

  9. It was a feature I used often, too. I would have preferred to still have the feature, but it really only means searching twice now, instead of once, in the event I can't remember where something may be store. If I know a file is not in my mailbox, or if it is a name I know is in my mailbox, I can still just search in the appropriate spot. It was nice searching once, but that often gave me more results than I needed. Definitely not a deal killer for the combination.

Looks are subjective. I actually prefer 2013's UI over 2010, and some of the features are ones I'd hate to give up, such as the improved print preview and the presenter view in PowerPoint.
